Temporary Medical Underwriter

Job Overview

Gravie is seeking a Temporary Medical Underwriter to join our underwriting team. This role is critical for cost projections of high-cost claimants to aid with risk analysis and completion of new business quotes. The position is temporary with an anticipated end date in December and offers a pay rate of $24/hour.

Responsibilities

• Complete training and onboarding of Gravie Underwriting policies, guidelines, models, and innovative techniques.
• Coordinate and review Individual Health Questionnaires (IHQ) for cost projections.
• Utilize IHQ to project costs for new enrollees and work closely with the Channel UW team.
• Underwrite level-funded and self-funded cases using medical health questionnaires.
• Review underwriting case preparation work and make recommendations to Underwriting leadership.
• Collaborate with Gravie teams and third-party vendors as needed.
• Support Sales Operations, Underwriting, and Analytics teams in managing quotes.
• Contribute to the development of underwriting strategies and tools.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Economics, Statistics, Mathematics, Insurance, or related fields.
• 0-2 years of relevant experience in group health or medical underwriting.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and attention to detail.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
